Renaissance castle in Galanta
The Renaissance castle (also known as Renaissance manor house) is one of two most important historical buildings of Galanta along with the Neo-Gothic castle.〔(History of Galanta )〕 Originally, a residency of the Esterházy family, it nowadays serves as a part of the regional museum in Slovakia. Its groundfloor serves as place for holding wedding ceremonies and for mayors representational activities, the basement hosts culture and social activities, and the first floor serves as gallery and for museum purposes.
==History==
The manor was built in 1860 on previous basements. Its architecture is from the Tudorian England's Romantic Gothic Era and it was set in a park. It belonged to the Esterházy family, which was a prominent aristocratic family in Hungary. Its original two-wing disposition is with small changes still present. Attached to the main entrance of the mansion was a small tower, which was slightly higher than the mansion, and it is was decorated with a renaissance-styled attic, which covered its low roof. The building had richly and colorfully decorated façades with large symmetric windows. All renaissance castles were also called manors.
